Weasels began trading in 1984, and we opened our first independent second-hand record shop the following year, in St Mary Street, Southampton. That was before the real arrival of Compact Discs, which had been introduced in 1982 but had not yet overtaken sales of vinyl albums or singles. So our stock was mostly LPs, 7" and 12" singles, music cassettes and VHS videos. We still had a few collectors of 78's and even 8-tracks! CDs started to creep in slowly but it was a few years before used CDs were sold on to us and we were able to offer them to our customers. Our sales of vinyl stayed steady for some time, people being reluctant to change, or simply preferring the vinyl album format. And, as we still have today, collectors looking for rare, hard-to-find artists and songs, or a remembered track. We still sell all formats of music but the CD album is now our main line, and we sell every kind of music from vintage nostalgia of the 30s and 40s, through oldies jukebox rock and roll of 50s and 60s, to rock, pop and metal of 70s, 80s, 90s, and 00s. From the middle of the road old crooners, big bands, classical, instrumentals, folk, country and western, blues, jazz to reggae, hip hop, punk and new country, we have such a variety of music that you can always find something you want to listen to. So, if you are looking for a particular artist, or a special track, why not give Bob a ring on 02380363300. We might have just what you are looking for!
